The U.S. Armed Forces offer financial assistance to active members of the military who are adopting a child.

Some families have received financial help towards their adoption expenses from their church and other civic organizations in their local area.

Federal Adoption Tax Credit

On June 7, 2001 the Hope for Children Act was signed.  As a result, adoptive families will receive an adoption tax credit of up to $10,000.00 during the year in which their adoption is finalized.  For more information on this important legislation, please contact your tax accountant.
