Morning Star Adoption Center is available to meet with you to explore all of your options and to help you decide what is the best plan for everyone involved. When considering adoption, your counselor will assist you with:
All of the same services are offered to the child's father, even if they are provided separately from you. If the father is not active in the planning for the child, we will complete the necessary legal processing, so that you may proceed with the adoption plan.
A well made plan begins with a sound understanding of the process and the options available. Morning Star Adoption Center counselors are prepared to thoroughly educate you to help you formulate the best plan for you and your child. We will support whatever decisions you make regarding your future plan for your child.
Morning Star Adoption Center will help you find
a good family. We encourage you to participate in the choosing of a family
to parent your child. We have many loving and caring families waiting to
adopt. All of our waiting families are carefully screened. If you prefer not
to make the selection, Morning Star Adoption Center can make that selection for you. You may
direct the decision by determining what family characteristics are most
important to you. Things you may want to consider are:
The type of family
characteristics you wish your child to grow up with (for example: a family
presently with/without children, religion, work, hobbies, degree of openness)
The type of contact with the adoptive family you would like during your pregnancy and after the child is placed into their home (for example: no contact, pictures and letters, phone calls, or visits)
To help you “meet” potential families, you may:
View waiting family profiles.
Morning Star Adoption Center has many profiles written by families waiting to
adopt. These are letters written by the families who wish to adopt and have had
a home study completed, which approves them to adopt. We would be happy to
meet with you and provide profiles of those families who meet your criteria.
Meet prospective families. This can be a wonderful way to learn more about a family that you are considering. This will help you to begin forming a lifelong relationship with the family you chose.
If you know someone interested in adopting your child, this is okay too! Morning Star Adoption Center is happy to work with any family that you choose. The family must complete a home study prior to the child being placed in their home, so have them contact us once you have determined they are the right family for you.

In addition to your physical well-being, Morning Star is committed to emotional health. Morning Star Adoption Center offers free and confidential pregnancy counseling. If you decide to parent your child, terminate the pregnancy, or make an adoption plan, your counselor can assist you with creating a good, safe plan that is comfortable for you. We are available to personally meet with you - either at your home, at a neutral location, or in our office - regularly and at your convenience. Our goal is to assist you during this difficult time in your life.
Morning Star Adoption Center is able to conduct all of the legal processing that is necessary to properly complete an adoption. If you would like to meet with an attorney, a knowledgeable adoption attorney will be arranged for you.
The legal processing cannot begin until the child is born. At that time, Morning Star Adoption Center will assist you with placing the child into the home of the adoptive family, filing the proper documents with the courts, and attending a court hearing with you. If the father is not available to attend the hearing, Morning Star Adoption Center will assist with the proper legal processing for the termination of his parental rights.
In Michigan, it is legally allowable for potential adoptive parents to assist a pregnant woman planning adoption with reasonable and necessary daily living expenses. These expenses are discussed with an adoption professional to determine if they are appropriate and ultimately approved by the court. Your individual circumstances will be considered prior to any approval for assistance can be made.
There are no fees charged to birth parents for services from Morning Star Adoption Center. If a parent chooses to parent after Morning Star has incurred expenses to care for her child, the child care expenses may be requested from the parent.

Post Placement Support and Communication

After the child is placed in their new adoptive home, the emotions and commitment between the birth parent(s) and the adoptive parents continues. Morning Star Adoption Center remains available to all members of the adoption triad for the support and counseling that may be needed. The child will be supervised for the first six months after placement in their new home. The birth parents will be provided with the support and counseling they need, for as long as needed. If helpful, other birth parents are willing to talk and/or meet with you to share their experience and offer you comfort and support.
Prior to placing the child, Morning Star Adoption Center will assist with the development of a communication plan for after placement, such as letters, pictures, phone calls and/or visits. Morning Star Adoption Center will assist with the administering of the plans for the on-going communication, if needed.
